Welcome To San Cayetano Elementary

We are an A school, a Title I High Performing & High Progress School

Welcome to San Cayetano Elementary, Home of the Cheetahs!

We are one of five schools in the Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District No. 35, located in Rio Rico, Arizona. San Cayetano believes that a positive partnership between teachers, students, and parents is the formula for success, and we have tremendous support available for our students. These include, but are not limited to, an engaged parent community that supports student learning, and a qualified and dedicated teacher and paraprofessional workforce.

Please visit this site often to stay up-to-date on San Cayetano!

A Message from our Principal

Greetings San Cayetano Families:

Por favor, lea la carta de la directora en español.

It is with great pleasure that I write to welcome you and your student(s) to the 2015-2016 school year at San Cayetano Elementary! As the principal at San Cayetano Elementary, I look forward to working with you to ensure that each student has a safe and successful learning experience.

At San Cayetano Elementary, we strive to achieve high levels of success with all our students, working as a school community with teachers, parents, staff, and students. Thus, we are proud to announce that through our combined efforts we have, once again, achieved high levels of success for all students. Together we will continue to build on our achievements!

Our first events for the upcoming school year are as follows:

  1. Back to School Blitz: Our district is hosting this event for all schools at Calabasas School on Saturday, July 25 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.
  2. Kinder-5th Grade Orientation Day: Friday, August 7, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to complete all the necessary forms, as well as briefly introduce yourself and your child to your child’s teacher.
  3. First Day of Classes: School begins on Monday, August 10 at 8:15 a.m. and students are dismissed at 2:55 p.m.  As you know, daily attendance at school is the single most important thing you can do as a parent to insure your child learns. Last year, the number of students with more than 10 absences was very disappointing and we will be addressing this important statistic very closely this year.

Please note our school start time has changed to 8:15 a.m.

Other important information:

  • Early Release:  The district has early release days on some, but not all Wednesdays. On early release days, students will be dismissed from school at 12:25 p.m. These are excellent opportunities for parents to spend a few extra minutes with your child practicing the skills learned so far.
  • Bus Routes:  SCVUSD #35 provides transportation to and from the student’s home residence only. If you need arrangements from an address other than your home, you must complete a Bus Exception form with the Transportation Department.  Please call 375-8885, for more information regarding bus routes.
  • School Uniforms:  District #35 policy requires all K-8 students to wear a school uniform. The guidelines are as follows:
    • The uniform consists of red or navy long or short-sleeved polo shirts (with no emblems) or school “spirit” shirts.
    • Khaki or navy bottoms (shorts or pants for boys and pants, capris, skorts, jumpers and skirts for girls, school “spirit” pants for all).
    • Belts and tucked shirts
    • Shoes and socks of any color.
    • Students may also wear sweatshirts/pants, sweaters, vests, or turtlenecks in red or navy blue solid single colors.
    • Jackets of any kind or color.

Sincerely,

Berenice Rodriguez
